Back on March 12th 2018, rumours began to circulate claiming that Yeovil Town defender Tom James was the subject of transfer interest from three major football clubs. Over the four-and-a-half months that have followed, there has been claim after claim issued against the former Cardiff City player, with the most recent coming last week when national paper The Mirror claimed that there was a £350,000 price tag on his head, with Swansea City trying to line up a few outgoing transfers before they made their bid official. Now the name of fellow Championship club West Bromwich Albion has been chucked in - one that hasn't been mentioned before.
A national commercial website called Football Insider, which claims to be "written and edited by professional journalists" has stated that West Brom "have made enquiries about James" ahead of the closure of the August transfer window, which after all of this 'talk' is now just ten days away. Once again there are no sources or quotes to back up their claims - just some fluff about the Baggies being "ready to firm up their interest" in the player.
Over the course of that four-and-a-half period, Tom James has variously been connected with moves to West Bromwich Albion, Swansea City, Hull City, AFC Bournemouth, Celtic, Aston Villa, Brentford and Bristol City. However, as yet there have been no firm concrete on-the-record stories or quotes to substantiate these claims at this stage.
Tom James was left out of Saturday's squad that faced Corby Town on Saturday, with the official explanation that he was being 'rested' for the weekend, having played in most of Yeovil's previous pre-season friendlies.
