17 July 2018 : Upson Return Likely For Gas Friendly
Tonight sees Yeovil Town play their second public pre-season friendly when they face League One side Bristol Rovers at Huish Park. The Gas are regulars on the friendly list, having visited during 2012, 2014 and 2017, with many of the missing years covering times during which the two clubs occupied the same divisions. In fact they will meet again competitively later this year, with the Football League Trophy Group Stages seeing them land in the same part of the draw. Rovers will be splitting their professional squad tonight, with the more junior members travelling to Weston-super-Mare, which should mean that the majority of genuine first teamers head to Huish Park.

Like all clubs, Bristol Rovers have been refreshing their squad for the 2018-19 season. One of their new arrivals is a very familiar one, with former Glovers midfielder Ed Upson leaving Milton Keynes to stay in League One following their relegation. Attacking midfielder Sam Matthews was a part of AFC Bournemouth's development squad last season and both him and Upson were in the centre of the park during their last friendly. Winger Alex Rodman is an experienced campaigner who played for Shrewsbury Town last year. At the other end of the scale they took 19 year old midfielder Theo Widdrington from Portsmouth, whilst Gavin Reilly is a former St Mirren striker.

Yeovil Town will continue to be without James Bailey (knee) and Jake Gray (ankle) who are expected to miss the whole of pre-season, with Gray out until September, whilst Bailey's exact prognosis isn't clear, with him having recently had further surgery. They'll also be without goalkeeper Nathan Baxter who is still at Stamford Bridge playing in their matches and training sessions.

Last summer saw Nathan Smith score Yeovil's only goal in a 1-3 home defeat in front of 1,351 spectators, which included 314 from Bristol. Billy Bodin scored twice for the Gas, with Byron Moore adding a third in the second half.

Admission for tonight will be as follows: Adult 6.00; Seniors and Young Persons 3.00; Under-16: FREE. Only the Main Stand will be open to home fans. Vising supporters will take the Screfix East Stand.
