21 June 2018 : Wealey Becomes A Grecian After Dorchester Exit
Former Yeovil Town goalkeeper Chris Weale is back in the Football League at Exeter City. The 36 year old has been brought in as their new goalkeeping coach, with new first team manager Matt Taylor selecting his new backroom team after taking over from Paul Tisdale. Wealey has left Dorchester Town after a year on their books as a player, that saw him keep 11 clean sheets in 49 appearances under Steve Thompson's management.

That was good enough for him to pick up all three of Dorchester's Player of the Season Awards, gaining honours from their First Team Manager, the Players' Player and Supporters as their top player for the 2017-18 season. However, he now moves down to Devon, where Taylor has also appointed Andrew Wiseman as a new Strength and Conditioning Coach, whilst Dan Green has been promoted from within to become the club's new Under-23 coach. Taylor is still seeking a new Assistant Manager.

Taylor has revealed that he knew Weale from a coaching course, but also got a recommendation from former Glovers keeper Artur Krysiak, with Weale having acted as Yeovil Town's goalkeeping coach until his departure from Huish Park in the summer of 2016. He said Weale's main focus would be as a coach, although he didn't rule out the possibility of registering him as a player if they needed cover on a temporary basis:

"Chris is enthusiastic. He's got a great work ethic and he's a good character and he will fit in well with the environment we are trying to create. I see Chris as a long-term appointment. I knew Chris from a coaching course and from playing against him. He is familiar with the club, having worked with the academy goalkeepers. Artur Krysiak spoke very highly of him from his time at Yeovil and how he improved his game. Chris has had a fantastic playing career and is an ambitious young coach in terms of developing young goalkeepers which is a big part of our club with Christy and James and the younger keepers coming up through the academy. Chris will also provide us as cover if emergency circumstances happen where a keeper fell ill on the day of a game, he could sit on the bench if needed, so we can also sign him on a non-playing contract."

Chris Weale made 236 appearances for Yeovil Town across three spells at the club - including one very legendary goal against Hereford United in April 2009. He made over 450 appearances during his professional career.
