Former Yeovil Town midfielder Ben Tozer has found himself a new club. The 28 year old has left Newport County and signed a two year contract with Cheltenham Town, teaming up with former Glovers Gary Johnson, Kevin Dawson and Scott Flinders. Although Tozer is a former Glover, he was brought to Huish Park by Paul Sturrock before becoming a regular first teamer under Darren Way and so did not play under Johnson.
Johnson's knowledge of the former Plymouth Argyle player comes from his time at Northampton Town, and so is well aware of what he can do. Although Tozer's first season with Newport County was disrupted by injury and by a fall-out with former Exiles boss Graham Westley, he made 45 appearances during his second season, as part of a team that finished in 11th place at the end of the 2017-18 season. Johnson says of his capture:
"We're delighted to have signed Ben. He is a fantastic athlete and I have worked with him previously so know exactly the kind of character he will bring to the squad. He's an experienced player and will be a big influence in our quest next season to push up the table and have a really successful campaign. Ben has tremendous energy to his game, can play as a real ball player in midfield and is also very adaptable and can play in a number of other positions. He is a great signing for us."
