The Third Round draw for the EFL Trophy has been set to take place this coming Friday. The teams will be drawn out live on talkSport radio at 12.30p.m. on Friday 8th December, with the last sixteen clubs in the competition finding out who they will play in January 2018.
The draw will be overseen by Lynsey Hipgrave, with Bob Groves and Perry Groves drawing out the balls. As well as broadcasting it live on the radio, the League will then publish the outcome of the draw on their Checkatrade Trophy Twitter account shortly after the conclusion.
There are three Second Round ties left to be played, with all of these due to be settled on Wednesday night. The Third Round draw will be made on an unseeded unregionalised basis, with the following teams left in the competition:
Leicester City Under-21s
Blackpool or Mansfield Town
Forest Green Rovers
Milton Keynes Dons or Chelsea Under-21s
Peterborough United or Southend United
All ties are due to be played during the week commencing January 8th 2018, with Tuesday 9th January the most likely date for clubs to pick. However, because this round happens immediately after the FA Cup Third Round weekend, expect some clubs to work on different scheduling if their FA Cup ties take place on the Sunday.
