Yeovil Town manager Darren Way felt his side had switched off from two set pieces last night, after they surrendered a two goal lead against Morecambe at Huish Park. Having gained the advantage through Francois Zoko and Sam Surridge, it was former left-back Michael Rose who provided the two set pieces that got his side back into the match for a 2-2 draw - the first a long throw that was flicked on at the near post, followed by a corner that bounced through the penalty area before being converted.
The Glovers know plenty about Rose from his time spent at Huish Park between 2004 and 2006 and so shouldn't have found this much of a surprise. However, speaking after the game, Way felt that his team should have shown better concentration levels from the set pieces that his former teammate delivered throughout the game:
"We're very disappointed not to pick up maximum points. Also with the work that we've put in from set plays, with the conditions, the weather played a massive part tonight. we knew that, but with concentration levels, we have to make sure that we do better than that. I think one or two players switched off. It's not that they cut us open through general play, but as for the long throws and long free-kicks, we knew we had to deal with that and on two occasions there we didn't and that's what's disappointing after being 2-0 up. We have to make sure we all share responsibility and defending set plays you have to be very strong."
Way also cited the overall match conditions, with the game being played in a strong end to end wind. With Yeovil only one goal up at half time, the danger was that Morecambe might capitalise with the wind at their backs during the second period, and the Glovers boss felt the conditions didn't help:
"I was pleased in the first half by the way that we moved the ball around. But I knew the game was going to be different tonight with the conditions. If it was a night that was not wet and not windy, I think we would have had a little bit more of an entertaining game. But you have to make sure that you play the conditions. We're disappointed - very very disappointed - that we didn't pick up maximum points tonight."
