Yeovil Town picked up a 2-0 victory in South Wales tonight in their third pre-season friendly. They had to work right up until the final kick of the game to guarantee their victory against Welsh Premier League side Llanelli Town, who stayed in the game thanks to missed Glovers chances and strong goalkeeping that stopped the visitors from building up a comfortable lead.
The match saw Yeovil make three changes from Saturday's starting line-up, with Omar Sowunmi preferred to Keston Davies at the back, whilst Connor Smith and Francois Zoko dropped out with Olufela Onomola and trialist Jermaine Easter providing a front two in a 4-4-2. They took the lead with a touch of good fortune, with Otis Khan seeing a free kick swung in from the left evade everyone and sweep straight through into the back of the net for a 1-0 half time advantage.
A total of eleven substitutions were all made at half time, with seven trialists in the second half line-up, and only injured pair Stephane Zubar and Artur Krysiak missing. Llanelli were thankful for the performance of 16 year old Kai Rees, who produced a number of strong saves to stop Yeovil extending their lead. But with the final kick of the game, Francois Zoko, who had been denied on numerous occasions during the half, finally converted from close range to provide a 2-0 victory.
