Former Yeovil Town winger Jack Compton is on trial in pre-season with Torquay United. After spending last season on the books of Newport County, followed by a loan spell with Merthyr Town, Compton was released by the Exiles over the summer, and this afternoon found himself named in a Gulls XI that took part in their first pre-season friendly.
Jack played the second 45 minutes of a match against South West Peninsular League Division One East Champions Stoke Gabriel. Torquay lost the match 5-2, having been 1-0 up at half time, although a number of other trialists and development squad players featured in the match.
The 28 year old winger had twice been connected with a return to Yeovil Town by the local media although it would have been a major surprise if he had added to the 23 appearances and five goals he scored during the 2015-16 season. His appearance in a Gulls shirt confirms that he is not at Huish Park in any shape or form during the current pre-season.
