Ciderspace News Page : Morning Report From Saltergate
4 March 2006 : Morning Report From Saltergate
By phone from a club spokesman as of 09.15 :

Ground staff are currently removing the covers. There's also a blanket of snow on top which they are hopeful provided added insolation. Yesterday the pitch would have been playable by 3.00 p.m., and the forecast is for similar weather today. Of most concern is a thin strip at The Kop end which doesn't get the sun.

Without the new covers the game would definitely have been off, but on the one previous occasion they have used them this season their game went ahead whilst others around were postponed. Whilst the final decision will obviously rest with the referee they are cautiously optimistic the game will go ahead.
