Yeovil Town midfielder Joe Lea made his return from an ankle injury yesterday evening. The 18 year old is currently on loan at Dorchester Town, but had missed five matches in a row through an ankle injury that was sustained during the warm-ups for their match against Chesham United on November 19th. Last night he made his return in a 1-1 draw against St Ives Town in a Southern League Premier Division match.
Joe played the whole of the second half in the match, after he replaced David Jerrard at half time. Meanwhile Ollie Bassett played a full 90 minutes, and sort of got an assist. A 55th minute corner taken by Bassett was headed on by Matt Oldring, causing St Ives defender Liam McDevitt (not the former Yeovil youth teamer with a similar name) to turn the ball into his own net. Josh Dawkin equalised five minutes from time.
Last night's appearance by Joe Lea was the penultimate match of his second month loan spell with the Magpies, although the first time he'd got onto the pitch during that month. His deal expires after their Saturday away game against Kings Lynn Town. Bassett was making his 14th appearance for Dorchester - his current deal runs until late December, with their Boxing Day fixture against Weymouth expected to be his last match of his third month. There's no word as yet as to whether Dorchester would like to extend either player's stay at the Avenue Stadium.
Dorchester Town: Murphy, Brookes, (Jermyn 86) Martin, Morgan, Walker, Dillon, Jerrard (Lea 46), Oldring, Wood (Clarke 70), Bassett, Blair.
