15 February 2006 : St Valentine's Day heartbreak
The Yeovil Town faithful left Huish Park stunned last night after their side was denied three valuable points by a last-minute of injury-time MK Dons equaliser. The Glovers knew nothing less than the win was required but the draw leaves Steve Thompson’s men just one point from the relegation zone.

Yeovil dictated the possession in the first half and will rue again failing to produce in the final third of the pitch. Phil Jevons twice had decent chances to score but couldn’t beat Matt Baker from a one-on-one and failed to connect to a superb ball from Anthony Barry. The home side looked the more threatening in the first period, though Chris Weale was called upon to save a Scott Taylor shot from point blank range.

To the bemusement of the 5,041 crowd, in form Dons striker Izale McLeod missed an absolute sitter on 57 minutes after rounding Weale in the penalty area but incredibly directed his shot wide of the empty net. Kevin Gall, who had an effort ruled out earlier by the linesman's flag, broke the stalemate in the 71st minute after being put through by a Chris Cohen pass for his first goal since early September and his second of the season. Just as it was looking job done, Ben Harding fired an unstoppable effort into the top corner, leaving Weale no chance in the Yeovil goal.

Match precis: George Murray

Final score: Yeovil Town 1-1 MK Dons. A full match report will be online later today.

Both Phil Jevons and Paul Terry were substituted late in the game with knocks, but neither injuries were thought to be serious and with no match this weekend they have plenty of time to recover before the next crucial game, at fellow strugglers Blackpool in ten days time. Results else where did the Glovers no favours with West Country rivals TBCUTR and Swindon both winning to move above us in the table for the first time in months. There are 4 clubs now on 38 points - Swindon (16th), Hartlepool (17th), Bristol City (18th) and Yeovil (19th). Scunthorpe and Walsall are 20th and 21st respectively on 37 points with Blackpool 22nd on 36. Rotherham are 23rd on 33 points with MK Dons still bottom after last night's draw on 31 points.
