Glovers boss Steve Thompson was pleased with the way reserve-team strikers Kevin Gall and Daniel Webb scored all 5 goals between themselves in the 5-0 win over Bournemouth reserves last night and is hoping that their example can rub off on first-choice strikers Phil Jevons and Matt Harrold at Port Vale on Saturday.
"The reserves have given me something to think about and they have staked a claim with their goals," Thompson told the Western Daily Press last night.
"It is always good to win any game and, hopefully, that can push the first-team a little harder. When you see people playing well and scoring goals it might make you work harder to keep your place. Admittedly, it was a young Bournemouth team, but we had a young team playing as well."
