9 July 2014 : Frome 1 Yeovil 6 : Six Of The Best In Opening Friendly
Yeovil Town gained a comfortable opening pre-season friendly win this evening at Badgers Hill, as they put six goals past Southern League Premier Division side Frome Town. In a match based around two almost entirely different line-ups spread across the two halves, goalkeeper Artur Krysiak was the only player to stay on the pitch for the whole game, with the club's other goalkeeper Chris Weale kept out through a slight injury.

The opening two goals came from former Crewe Alexandra striker AJ Leitch-Smith. He took advantage of a left-wing cross from Nathan Ralph for the first, finishing inside the box. Ralph was getting his first taste of football for sixteen months, after the whole of the 2013-14 season was wiped out through injury, and he lasted an hour before running out of steam. Meanwhile AJ Leitch-Smith bagged his second thanks to a Brendan Moloney crossfield pass that saw the striker cut inside for his second of the game.

Frome ensured the half time scoreline stood at 2-1 when they quickly responded, with Matt Smith firing home after a ball reached him at the far post. But during the second half, Yeovil accelerated ahead as Kieffer Moore forced an error in the Frome defence, setting up Sam Hoskins to score from close range. Then after Liam Davis was felled inside the box, Kieffer Moore made it 4-1 from the penalty spot.

Yeovil's fifth came via Kieffer Moore's second of the evening as he took advantage of a loose ball from a corner, whilst the final goal of the evening came via Sam Foley, whose curling shot found the net after he had been put through on goal.

All in all, the sort of start the Glovers wanted to their campaign, and with Cardiff City defender Ben Nugent watching from the sidelines ahead of an expected loan move, and the likes of Chris Weale and Joel Grant sitting out tonight's match with slight injuries, the chance to see further options within the squad should be available in future friendlies. However, former Liverpool striker Adam Morgan may not be involved in the warm-up matches at all - he missed tonight's match after holding talks with an unnamed Scottish club.

Final Score: Frome Town 1 Yeovil Town 6.
