28 April 2014 : Cyclists Commence Journey Up To Middlesbrough
This morning a group of around 64 Yeovil Town supporters began a long trip from Yeovil up to Middlesbrough in preparation for a mammoth cycle ride that will benefit three charities. Dubbed as the 'Back From Boro' campaign, the fans will use pedal power to travel a total of 334 miles between the Riverside Stadium and Huish Park. Their efforts will benefit Prostate UK, St Margaret's Hospice and the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust.

The team have already raised 2,110 for Prostate UK as part of a recent half time collection arranged at a March 2014 Championship match against Sheffield Wednesday. Meanwhile a recent event at the Quedam Centre in Yeovil raised another 296.65 across all three charities. Their target is to raise 30,000 once they complete their mission.

The plan is to leave the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday morning, and to then do four full days of cycling, covering up to 80 miles in each day. On Friday night, they will reach Bath and will then make the final 40 mile journey from Bath to Yeovil, hopefully arriving at Huish Park around mid-morning on the Saturday - and hopefully have enough of a chance to rest their aching limbs before the game kicks off at 12.15p.m. against Middlesbrough. Riders include Glovers employee James Healey and former goalscoring legend Mickey Spencer, plus former defender Tom White, whilst there are plans for first team manager Gary Johnson to lead the riders in on his own bike during the final mile of the run-in to Huish Park.

You can sponsor each rider individually - a sample list of riders can be viewed below. All riders are listed in alphabetical order with no preference intended. Hence please randomly pick someone to sponsor, and help recognise their efforts by helping three worthy charities.

NB: If any other riders want their names/links added to this list, please drop an email to ytfcciderspace@yahoo.com and we'll add you to the list, which we'll promote a few times during the week.
