Right-back and central-defender Adam Lockwood has been rewarded for his hard work over the summer with a one year contract after proving his fitness to Glovers boss Gary Johnson. This news page reported on July 28th that Gary had made up his mind about the Wakefield-born player during the pre-season friendlies and was offering him a deal. That deal has now been signed.
Wakefield-born Lockwood made his Yeovil debut nearly four years ago in the 2-0 win at Hereford on 18th September 2001. He's made 150 first team appearances since, scoring 10 goals. The difficulty has been that only 11 of those appearances were clocked up last year after two serious knee injuries, but Locky returned at the tail end of last season, and instantly looked like he had lost none of his former class and strength.
Speaking to the official site, Gary explained: "Adam has worked hard over the pre-season and during the Summer break and deserves his new deal. He is now totally free of injury and looking strong again. I am really pleased for Adam and the club."
