Yeovil Town have signed up Watford central defender Dale Bennett on loan. The 22 year old, who has had loan experience with Wealdstone, Kettering Town, Brentford and AFC Wimbledon will be on the club's books until January 3rd.
The Watford trainee has made 25 appearances for the Hornets so far but has yet to feature for them this season. Dale was born in Enfield on January 6th 1990, and signed his first professional contract with the Championship side in March 2008, having been captain of their Under-18s side. He made his debut six months later against West Ham United. He started off with loan spells with Wealdstone and Kettering Town during 2008, with the latter turning into a half season loan across the 2008-09 season.
His main experience at this level came during the 2011-12 campaign when he had two loan spells with Brentford, separated by injury. Having scored on his debut for the Bees, he returned to his parent club, having picked up a training ground injury. However, he'd impressed enough for the West London side to want to take him back for a second occasion. This season he has been in League Two with AFC Wimbledon, and so would have rubbed shoulders with Curtis Haynes-Brown, although due to the latter's injury the two never played in the same side. He made six appearances for them, all across the month of September.
Dale is in principle a central defender, but can also play as a right-back. He is under contract at Vicarage Road until the end of the 2012-13 season. He is now one of six loan players on Yeovil Town's books, although with Paddy Madden unable to play in the next two fixtures, and Joe Edwards and Korey Smith returning to their parent clubs in mid-December, there will only be a maximum of two fixtures where that problem arises.
Further Watford loan news, of particular relevance to Yeovil Town supporters is that Joe Garner has had his loan spell with Carlisle United extended until January 3rd. He is effectively Paddy Madden's replacement within their ranks, and has scored seven times since his arrival at Brunton Park.
