Yeovil Town will play in the First Round of the Football League Trophy for the 2012-13 season, having been included in the Southern Section West part of the draw groups that were released this morning. That's not too much of a surprise - as the Glovers were given a First Round bye in last year's competition, the rules mean that they would be excluded from that in this season's draw.
The draw will be made on Saturday 18th August, live on Sky's Soccer AM programme, and means that the Glovers will play one of seven possible clubs, as follows:
Southern Section - West
AFC Bournemouth, Aldershot Town, Bristol Rovers, Exeter City, Oxford United, Portsmouth, Swindon Town, Yeovil Town
Other draw sections are as follows:
Northern Section - West
Accrington Stanley, Carlisle United, Fleetwood Town, Morecambe, Port Vale, Preston North End, Rochdale, Tranmere Rovers
Northern Section - East
Burton Albion, Chesterfield, Coventry City, Notts County, Oldham Athletic, Rotherham United, Scunthorpe United, York City
Southern Section - East
AFC Wimbledon, Crawley Town, Dagenham & Redbridge, Gillingham, Milton Keynes Dons, Northampton Town, Stevenage, Southend United
The sixteen teams that will receive byes until the Second Round section are as follows:
Northern Section:
Bradford City, Bury, Crewe Alexandra, Doncaster Rovers, Hartlepool United, Sheffield United, Shrewsbury Town, Walsall
Southern Section:
Barnet, Brentford, Cheltenham Town, Colchester United, Leyton Orient, Plymouth Argyle, Torquay United, Wycombe Wanderers
All ties will be played during week commencing 3rd September 2012, and so the most likely date for your diary is Tuesday 4th September.
