Yeovil Town manager Gary Johnson has said that he is likely to 'take his time' over the last couple of players that he wants for his 2012-13 first team playing squad. The Glovers have so far made nine new signings over the summer, giving them a reasonably sized group of players to take them into the set of nine pre-season friendlies.
Johnson has told BBC Somerset that he is sticking to previously stated targets of having a squad of eighteen players for the season, but that the two more that he wants may not arrive until he has seen a few pre-season friendlies:
"We had to bring in new players and that's what we've done. We think that a squad of eighteen will probably be just about right, so we've got two places left really. We're going to have a look at that and we're going to take our time on those. We will see a few pre-season friendlies so that we can see if we need to strengthen in any particular area. Then we'll go out and do what we need to do for the last couple."
The current list of contracted players, plus links to profiles of the new signings, can be viewed below:
Goalkeepers: Marek Stech, Gareth Stewart
Defenders: Luke Ayling, Byron Webster, Richard Hinds, Curtis Haynes-Brown, Jamie McAllister, Nathan Ralph
Central Midfielders: Dominic Blizzard, Ed Upson
Attacking Midfielders: Lewis Young, Keanu Marsh-Brown, Sam Foley, Gavin Williams, Anthony Edgar
Strikers: Reuben Reid, James Hayter
Note: There is a slight mismatch between the number of players Gary believes he has contracted at present and the above list. The most likely explanation is that Anthony Edgar is not being counted in his plans, given that the midfielder was told to find a new club towards the end of last season, and has not been training with the club.
