Former Swindon Town full-back Callum Kennedy has completed his move to League One side Scunthorpe United. The 23 year old had been named by the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph earlier this month as a player they believed manager Gary Johnson was trying to bring to Yeovil Town, with newly promoted Crewe Alexandra also listed as an interested party by the paper.
However, they did throw out a strong hint that they believed the Iron were first in line to take on a player who spent five years at the County Ground before getting released by the Robins. He has agreed a two year contract at Glanford Park, effective from July 1st.
With Nathan Jones leaving his position as player-coach this summer, and Jonathan Ground turning down a chance to sign for the Glovers permanently, there is a clear vacancy for a left-back in Johnson's squad. The main name on the rumourmill is former Bristol City player Jamie McAllister, who played under Johnson at Ashton Gate. Along with left-footed winger Jennison Myrie-Williams, McAllister is a free agent who has yet to sign up with a new club, and is known to want to stay in the area and it would be no surprise if either player turned up at Huish Park on July 2nd.
