With the full line-up for the 2012-13 season in League One now known, a number of bookmakers are making available their odds for the new campaign. It will surprise few Yeovil Town supporters to find out that the Glovers are rank outsiders to win the division next season, with three out of five bookies giving them the widest odds, whilst two others only pitch one other club with wider odds.
First up, Bet365 list Oldham Athletic, Bury, Leyton Orient and Yeovil Town at 66/1, whilst BetFred opt for the same list but add in Walsall at the same price. Meanwhile Coral have the Glovers and Walsall as their two least likely teams to win the division, also at 66/1.
It's only Ladbrokes and William Hill that buck the trend slightly, putting Walsall out on their own as the side least likely to succeed this season. But even then, both bookies opt for a similar collective of teams, by putting Yeovil in a group of clubs with slightly narrower odds.
No surprises that Sheffield United are outright favourites according to all five bookies. They also expect Swindon Town - League Two Champions - to shoot straight through League One by placing them as either second or third favourites to go up. Predictably the three clubs relegated from the Championship are given decent odds, despite both Portsmouth and Coventry City both being under a transfer embargo at present.
Sample odds from William Hill (needless to say, shop around for odds) to win the division outright, are as follows:
Sheffield United (6/1); Milton Keynes Dons (7/1); Swindon Town (8/1); Notts County, Portsmouth (9/1); Doncaster Rovers (10/1); Coventry City (12/1); Brentford (14/1); AFC Bournemouth, Preston North End (16/1); Stevenage, Crawley Town, Carlisle United (20/1); Tranmere Rovers, Shrewsbury Town (25/1); Colchester United, Scunthorpe United, Crewe Alexandra (33/1); Oldham Athletic, Hartlepool United (66/1); Leyton Orient, Bury, Yeovil Town (80/1); Walsall (100/1).
