Officials for Yeovil Town's home League One match against Hartlepool United have been published by the Football League. The match takes place on Saturday 24th March 2012, with a 3.00p.m. kick-off at Huish Park. The man in charge of the game will be Michael Russell (Hertfordshire). Mr Russell started refereeing in the early 1990ís, progressing through the South Midlands League to reach the National List of Assistant Referees in 2000. He was promoted to the refereesí list in 2004. In his 36 matches to date this season he has issued 3 red and 90 yellow cards.
Russell (who seems to prefer to be known as Mick rather than the name of Mike we saw in his earlier days, although we've stuck with what the Football League call him) was a regular face at Yeovil matches in our early League One years, but we've only seen him once since a January 2008 match against Walsall that saw him have to deal with a game being played in gale-force conditions.
The first time we met him was against tonight's opponents, Millwall, in the Football League Cup, when he sent off Liam Fontaine in what subsequently turned out to be the last ever game for Gary Johnson as Yeovil Town's manager. Millwall were also the opposition the last time we saw him at Huish Park - we felt he was maybe a bit too lenient on some of the incoming tackles on this occasion, and could have taken a firmer line.
Mr Russell will be assisted by Brett Huxtable (Devon) and Christopher Powell (Dorset). The Fourth Official will be Richard Corp (Somerset).
