Yeovil Town's first year professionals Lewis Clarke and Rob Clowes both made their debuts over the weekend, yet both ended up on the losing sides. Both have started one month loan spells with non-league sides with the aim of giving them regular first team football.
Clarke travelled with Weymouth to play Oxford City and he played the first 79 minutes in a Terras defence that included former Yeovil trialist Alex Jeannin. However, two second half goals for Oxford meant that Weymouth slumped to their fourth defeat in a row at Court Place Farm, and Clarke was withdrawn eleven minutes from time.
Clowes got a full 90 minutes for Bridgwater Town in their 2-1 defeat at Gosport Borough. He was involved in a red card incident during the first half that saw him the victim of a poor challenge by Gosport's Dan Wooden, leaving the Hampshire side down to 10 men. However, by that time the home side were already a goal up, and they doubled their lead before Bridgwater could get a foothold in the game.
Second year scholar Lloyd Matthews sat out Frome Town's weekend match through injury, and so was at Huish Park on the weekend for the first team's win over Preston North End. We've already covered the progress of Rhys Baggridge over the weekend, in Saturday's article.
