Yeovil Town Supporters retained the Adam Stansfield Memorial Cup this morning - but only just. The Glovers made it a hat-trick of wins over their Exeter City counterparts on the Huish Park Top Pitch, but with the match ending up all square at 2-2. Goalscorers were John Mills with the first for Yeovil, whilst Steve Seaby added a second from the penalty spot.
That meant that the rights to keep the trophy had to be settled by penalty kicks, and it was the Glovers who triumphed, winning by a 5-4 margin, ensuring that the visitors have still yet to lift the trophy. Goalkeeper George Gillingham saved three penalties during the shoot-out to be one of the heroes of the match. Having run the Glovers close though, we suspect the Grecians will be arranging a return match in Devon in January 2012, in their attempts to make it fourth time lucky.
