Yeovil Town Ladies FC have become one of the first Women's clubs to create a club page on the Google+ social networking site. Last week Google announced that their Google+ social network was now available for organisations to set up pages to engage with their fans and customers. Hot on the heels of this news, Yeovil Town Ladies have set up their own Google+ page and appear to be one of the first, if not the first Women's club in the country to do so.
When the Glovers set up their page earlier this week a scan of Google+ to find other Women's Soccer teams, found only Sky Blue FC in USA, a curious situation given that the two clubs share an association - Yeovil being in Somerset and Sky Blue FC are based in Somerset, New Jersey.
Yeovil Town Ladies Chairman David Mills said "Our aim in creating this page was to increase the number of ways we can communicate with our fans in addition to our website, Twitter feed and Facebook page. We expected to find lots of teams on Google+ already, so to see we were one of the first female soccer teams in the world to use a Google+ page was a surprise and in fact at the moment it looks like not many UK menís football teams have gone down this road either yet. We do not have many Google+ followers at the moment, but this will change as more of our supporters and other womenís teams start using Google+"
To find the female Glovers teamís page one simply has to search for Yeovil Town Ladies FC on Google+ or follow the link below.
