Yeovil Town are launching plans to develop a new food store on land at Huish Park. A public exhibition at the club will allow interested parties to visit the Alec Stock Lounge at the end of this month to view a planned development to the north of the stadium - i.e. behind the away end of the ground.
The exhibition will be open on Friday 25th November between 11.00a.m. and 7.00p.m. and on Saturday 26th November between 11.00a.m. and 5.00p.m. and then again on the Sunday 27th November between 11.00a.m. and 3.00p.m. As part of this display, they will show designs and images of the plans and how they will affect that end of the Huish Park land.
Yeovil Town Chairman John Fry has told the Yeovil Express that an architect will be present who can answer any questions supporters or other interested parties may have about the arrangements:
"The public exhibition provides everyone in the local community with the chance to learn more about the proposals for this exciting development at Huish Park. Members of the team behind the proposals, including the architect will be on hand at the exhibition to answer any questions, address any concerns and to talk through the details of the scheme.
"Yeovil Town FC is an important economic driver in the South West region and we are embarking on this project to ensure that the club has the resources and facilities on site to continue to compete in the Football League. By developing the area around the stadium we have the opportunity to bring investment to the club and the area. Feedback from the local community is key to the initial and ongoing success of this development. We look forward to meeting as many people as possible at the public exhibition as we seek to move forward with the proposals."
We assume this is a continuation of the proposals outlined in March 2011, concerning land development fronted by Chris Dawson Superstores (CDS) whose business includes retail chain The Range. Although the expectation was that Dawson would look to build one of his own stores on the land, he indicated back in March that this was not necessarily a foregone conclusion. The specific identity of the food store company involved has yet to be revealed, and it isn't clear if Dawson is behind these latest plans or not.
