Glovers boss Gary Johnson is strongly believed to have signed a new contract this afternoon that will tie him to Huish Park until the summer of 2008. The news has been broken at the club this afternoon and official confirmation and further details will be detailed shortly.
[Update: 15.30hrs. This news is now confirmed.]
Looking ahead to the remaining three games of the season, Johnson has refused to accept that his promotion rivals have an advantage over his side because their final three games of this campaign are all against promotion-chasing sides whether it being playoff or automatic promotion hopefuls. Johnson told today’s Western Daily Press: "I think you can make a case for it either way. I think you could make a case that Bury had nothing to play for when they went to Wycombe last week and won 2-1. Leyton Orient had nothing to play for and they won at Southend the other Friday night. You are going to get these sort of results because teams are not going to just give up. Notts County and Bury had little to play for when they came to us, and they won. It's what you do over the 46 games that will count."
