The draw for the FA Cup First Round will be held tomorrow, with Yeovil Town entering the famous competition once again, following today's Fourth Qualifying Round ties. The draw will be live on ITV1 with a 30 minute programme commencing at 1.30p.m. The Football Association have announced that two players that took part in the legendary Sutton United vs Coventry City Third Round tie in 1989 will draw out the balls on the day.
Sutton's 2-1 win over the Sky Blues stands as one of the biggest shocks in the competition, with the non-league side beating a club that had won the trophy just two years previously. With it being the main game on Match of the Day, the goals from captain Tony Rains and midfielder Matt Hanlan became folklore from that moment onwards. Hanlan's match winner put him on the back pages of the national press, and he will be in the studio to draw out one set of balls.
The FA have also recruited in 51 year old former Coventry player Keith Houchen to draw out the other set of balls during the draw. Houchen won't have quite so fond memories of that day - he was a substitute within Coventry's ranks, and would perhaps rather remember their 1987 triumph, having scored at Wembley during their FA Cup Final victory over Tottenham Hotspur - a header that won him the Goal of the Season award from Match of the Day.
With the Fourth Qualifying Round being played today, the ball numbers published earlier this week now simplify down. Of the local sides, Bath City won 1-0 at Dover Athletic, whilst Salisbury City beat Bishop's Stortford 2-1. However Weston-super-Mare headed out of the competition, losing 2-3 at home to Oxford City.
Some supporters of a nervous disposition may be glad to note that Hayes and Yeading United and Forest Green Rovers went out of the competition today. With Yeovil Town taking Ball No. 48, the revised ball numbers read as follows:
