Yeovil Town Under-18s gained a superb win in South Wales this morning, as they picked up three points in their latest Youth Alliance Cup Group match. A single goal from Corey King five minutes from time proved to be the difference as they beat Swansea City Under-18s by a 1-0 scoreline.
The Glovers went into the match minus midfielder Jonny Kaye who had been ruled out due to a bad injury sustained in the midweek Somerset Premier Cup win at Keynsham Town, but were able to welcome back Melchi Emanuel-Williamson after his lengthy lay-off, with the striker slotting in on the bench. Josh Anderson made his first start for the Glovers.
After a goalless first half, Yeovil suffered a setback when Lloyd Matthews couldn't continue, due to a virus he had been trying to battle through - he was replaced by Corey King at the break. They also lost Josh Anderson due to injury in the closing stages, but didn't let those problems get them down, and with five minutes remaining, they got their rewards, as an Aidan Chainey pass put substitute King through, and he finished to secure the win.
With the Glovers having now managed two wins out of three in their Youth Alliance Cup Group stage, they've put themselves into a great position to potentially qualify through to the next stages. Home matches on consecutive weekends against Bristol Rovers and Exeter City stand in their way during the remainder of October as they look to make that happen.
