Yeovil Town will have all eyes on Carrow Road over the next couple of days, with some concern over whether goalkeeper Jed Steer will be able to continue his loan spell at Huish Park. Jed is currently about a month through a three month youth loan agreement that has a 24 hour recall clause built into it, through his parent club Norwich City.
That agreement, and the recall clause, will now have Yeovil's management team holding their breath with the news that Canaries first team goalkeeper John Ruddy was red carded this afternoon during their match at Chelsea in their Premier League match at Stamford Bridge. Second choice keeper Declan Rudd was on the bench and took over for the final nine minutes of the match, but Ruddy will now be suspended for Norwich's next fixture. As Steer is their third choice goalkeeper, there is an obvious risk that manager Paul Lambert may wish his England Under-19s keeper to be on the bench for their next game.
There is a bit of thinking time possible by all parties - next weekend is a designated international weekend, meaning that Norwich don't play until Sunday 11th September when they have a lunchtime match against West Bromwich Albion. That also gives the possibility of Steer being available for both fixtures that weekend, with Yeovil away at Preston North End on the Friday night. Whether Youth Loan rules can be bent that far will be one for both managers and the rule book, but Steer should certainly be available for next weekend's match at Tranmere Rovers regardless of what is decided.
Next weekend, Yeovil Town will certainly be without centre-back Curtis Haynes-Brown due to a one match suspension, following his red card this afternoon, and are extremely likely to be without striker Andrew Williams after he sustained a nasty looking ankle injury during today's match against Sheffield United.
