League One side AFC Bournemouth appear to be the club in the front of the queue to sign Swansea City midfielder Shaun MacDonald. As reported earlier today, the Premier League newcomers have confirmed that an unnamed League One side have pretty much agreed a fee with them to take MacDonald away from his hometown club, but that personal terms have yet to be agreed.
Tonight, Bournemouth Echo reporter Neil Perrett has said on his Twitter account that he believes that the Cherries are that club, saying:
"Bournemouth are hoping to finalise personal terms with Swansea midfielder Shaun MacDonald after agreeing a fee with the Welsh club. Bournemouth have agreed a fee with Swansea City of between £100,000 and £150,000 for (the) midfielder. Transfer target MacDonald scored a late equaliser for Yeovil against Bournemouth at Huish Park in April. He is 23 years old. Bournemouth are believed to be facing competition from at least two Championship clubs."
If Mr Perrett is correct with his transfer fee amount of £100,000 - £150,000 as an offer, it's probably safe to rule Yeovil Town entirely out of the equation! That said, it's a surprise that he suggests that the other two interested clubs play in the Championship, which would mean that the Glovers have not thrown their hat into the ring. Doubtless all will come clear in the next 24-48 hours.
