Yeovil Town manager Terry Skiverton has said that he is unlikely to sign as many loan players as he did last year. The Glovers boss currently has a first team squad of 26 players, and has made 15 summer signings, with only Norwich City keeper Jed Steer, Queen's Park Rangers defender Max Ehmer and Tottenham Hotspur striker Jonathan Obika being borrowed from other clubs in the new faces that have arrived at Huish Park.
Last season, the Glovers got through 17 different loan signings across the 2010-11 campaign. This time round, Skiverton has told BBC Somerset that he only expects to dip further into the loan market if he gets gaps in crucial positions due to injuries and suspensions:
"We've got a lot more contracted players, albeit that some are on short term contracts. We've got more contracted players and we haven't got so many loans to start with. It will need to be the right loan, or the right loans that I do bring in, and it will probably be coming in from injuries or suspensions, and then we can go from there."
Skiverton's words tend to point away from long-standing rumours that the Glovers would attempt to bring back Swansea City midfielder Shaun MacDonald to the club, although as has been seen with Alan O'Brien's signing earlier today clearly nothing should be permanently ruled out.
