Yeovil Town have appointed former Accrington Stanley and Blackpool midfielder Rory Prendergast as their new Centre of Excellence manager. The 33 year old arrives at the club with the remit to manage the club's Under-9s to Under-16s age groups, whilst Head of Youth Scott Green concentrates upon the scholarship schemes and the overall youth strategy at the club.
Rory was born in Pontefract and has played for a myriad of clubs in the north half of the country, and came up against Yeovil Town on numerous occasions as a Conference player. Whilst he started his career with Frickley Athletic, Rochdale, Barnsley, York City and Oldham Athletic, he was a familiar opponent during the turn of the century when he had spells with Northwich Victoria and Nuneaton Borough.
Prendergast moved back into the League after spells with Frickley Athletic, Bradford Park Avenue and Accrington Stanley, becoming part of the Blackpool squad that faced Yeovil Town during the 2006-07 season that saw both sides meet at Wembley, although he did not feature on the day due to injury.
He later moved on via Halifax Town, Rochdale (again), Darlington, Farsley Celtic, Eastwood Town, Bradford Park Avenue (again) and Goole Town. However, during the summer he moved south, and has been training with Tiverton Town, playing in their pre-season friendlies whilst starting a new role at Huish Park.
