The Football League have announced a new five year broadcasting deal for the rights to show matches across the world in its league and cup competitions. The agreement with Pitch International commences from the 2012-13 season and allows them to arrange broadcast rights with overseas television companies on behalf of the league for both Football League and Carling Cup matches.
Currently, Pitch International are one of several broadcasting partners across the world, but the new deal will give the company full rights on a global basis. Currently broadcasts are received over 96 different countries across Africa, North and South America, Asia, Europe and the Middle-East. Many of these broadcast weekly highlights shows, rather than full live matches. There's no mention within the league's press statement as to whether the overall level of coverage will change when the new deal kicks in.
