League One side Charlton Athletic have taken former Yeovil Town striker Sam Williams on trial. The 24 year old played and scored in their pre-season friendly this afternoon's, against Welling United. Williams is a free agent as one of the players released by manager Terry Skiverton at the end of last season.
Williams is highly familiar with The Valley, having started his footballing career as a player in their Academy set-up before being taken on by Aston Villa. His mum used to work at The Valley on matchdays, and so even his family will find their surroundings highly familiar.
Sam scored in the 55th minute of Charlton's match this afternoon, opening the scoring in a 3-0 win at Park View Road.
