It's Transfer Deadline Day today, which of course means that the rumourmill is hitting top speed with thousands of transfers and transfer rumours littering the internet. Well, actually no. So far today has been as dead as the proverbial dodo. That is, until 17:55hrs today, when the BBC Sport website's live coverage of the final hours of the January window report that:
"Just over five hours to go until the transfer window slams shut and it's not just the big guns who are trying to wrap up deals. Huddersfield Town are interested in 24-year-old Yeovil striker Dean Bowditch and trying to do some business this evening."
No clues as to where they've got this from, although a local BBC Huddersfield reporter has said the same on Twitter, possibly from the same source. Yeovil Town's top scorer is out of contract in June, and having reached the age of 24 would now be entitled to leave on a free transfer. Thus if there is any legs behind this one, then it will be a tough job for the club to refuse. However, they should bear in mind that his goalscoring ability may be the difference between survival and the 'R' word in League One if he jumps ship.
Obviously regardless of whether this one has legs, or whether it is an entire falsehood, we'll provide an update later tonight on this one. The window closes in England at 11.00p.m. tonight.
