31 January 2011 : Bowditch Linked With Terriers Move
It's Transfer Deadline Day today, which of course means that the rumourmill is hitting top speed with thousands of transfers and transfer rumours littering the internet. Well, actually no. So far today has been as dead as the proverbial dodo. That is, until 17:55hrs today, when the BBC Sport website's live coverage of the final hours of the January window report that:

"Just over five hours to go until the transfer window slams shut and it's not just the big guns who are trying to wrap up deals. Huddersfield Town are interested in 24-year-old Yeovil striker Dean Bowditch and trying to do some business this evening."

No clues as to where they've got this from, although a local BBC Huddersfield reporter has said the same on Twitter, possibly from the same source. Yeovil Town's top scorer is out of contract in June, and having reached the age of 24 would now be entitled to leave on a free transfer. Thus if there is any legs behind this one, then it will be a tough job for the club to refuse. However, they should bear in mind that his goalscoring ability may be the difference between survival and the 'R' word in League One if he jumps ship.

Obviously regardless of whether this one has legs, or whether it is an entire falsehood, we'll provide an update later tonight on this one. The window closes in England at 11.00p.m. tonight.

Update: 19:20hrs BBC local Huddersfield journalist Paul Ogden says on Twitter: "My understanding (Rotherham striker Adam) Le Fondre and Bowditch enqd about but no "bids" as such."

Update: 19:40hrs Huddersfield official site: "Huddersfield Town can today announce that Danny Cadamarteri has rejoined the Club on a short-term contract" - a winger/striker for the Terriers, so do they have their man?

Update: 20:45hrs One that is a definite transfer: Andrew Tutte arrives on a youth loan from Manchester City: full story.

Update: 20:50hrs Bowditch story appears to be fading with the Cadamarteri news, but strong rumours that Jean-Paul Kalala has left the club for Bristol Rovers. No written confirmation or firm reports yet though.

Update: 21:30hrs The news concerning Jean-Paul Kalala is now confirmed by both clubs: full story.

Update: 22:25hrs Hurrah! Dean Bowditch says on Twitter: "Don't worry Tweeps (Twitter people) I'm not going anywhere..."

Update: 23:15hrs The transfer window has closed so bar the odd case where a club's press office hasn't caught up with reality, all bets are off regarding permanent transfers. The emergency loan window will open in around eight days time.
