Yeovil Town remain in 21st place in the League One table tonight, after relegation rivals Bristol Rovers failed to capitalise on an opportunity to claw points back on a night in which three League One matches were played. Rovers were held 0-0 at the Memorial Stadium against Hartlepool United, extending their run to 12 matches without a win - easily the worst run of form in the division at present, having not recorded a win since October 16th.
Saturday's opponents Rochdale also recorded a 0-0 draw tonight, albeit against a promotion-chasing AFC Bournemouth side. Just 2,312 spectators turned up at Spotland, to see Dale climb a couple of places into 11th place, and seven ahead of the Glovers going into Saturday's match.
The final game tonight thankfully did produce some goals, with beleaguered Plymouth Argyle clocking up a surprise 3-1 away win against Milton Keynes Dons. The Pilgrims even scored all four goals, with Onismor Bhasera scoring in both nets. Kari Arnason and Chris Clark were the other scorers to push Argyle up to 13th, and seven ahead of the drop zone. They are by no means clear of danger though, having played three more games than the Glovers, and still needing to sort out their perilous financial situation before they return to the High Court on February 9th.
In a Football League Trophy Area Final played tonight, Carlisle United's love affair with the competition continues. Last year's beaten finalists look to be on their way to Wembley again after they thrashed Huddersfield Town 4-0 in the first leg of the Northern Area Final. Exeter City and Brentford are a little more delicately balanced at 1-1 from their match yesterday.
