Yeovil Town are set to appoint Gareth Stewart as their new goalkeeping coach. Stewart, who is currently a keeper on the books of Welling United, is a 30 year old keeper who was born in Preston, and predominantly made his career as a player whilst on the books of AFC Bournemouth, playing 163 league matches across a nine year period.
Prior to that, he was a trainee with Blackburn Rovers, without making a first team appearance for them, making Bournemouth realistically his only professional club. After leaving Bournemouth in the summer of 2008, he signed for Dorchester Town, although maintained his links with the Cherries by spending time coaching for their Community Trust programme. In September 2010 he moved on to Welling United where he has remained since.
Welling's official site do not explicitly state that he is to be the club's goalkeeping coach, but indicate that he has left Welling to take up a full time position at Yeovil Town. Given that the Glovers have a vacancy as a result of Ben Roberts departure to Charlton Athletic, Stewart would appear to be his replacement.
