Yeovil Town manager Terry Skiverton will need to make a late check on senior players Craig Alcock and Jean-Paul Kalala ahead of tonight's match against Southampton. The duo missed Saturday's 1-3 home defeat against Exeter City through injury, and so are significant doubts for tonight's match at Huish Park (kick-off 7.45p.m.)
Kalala has been out with knee ligament problems for the past two matches, also missing the club's 4-2 defeat at Huddersfield Town, whilst Alcock was taken out of Saturday's match due to a back problem. Skiverton has told BBC Somerset that both are doubts for tonight's match against the Saints and admitted that Kalala in particular could be a significant miss:
"We don't know yet. It's going to be touch and go as to whether they are fit for that one. The only thing is that every time that JP (Kalala) is missing or someone else is missing, we look like we're weak. I don't consider JP to be this big 6'3" hardman, I just think that JP is a good honest steady player. But it does show up when he is not there."
If Kalala does miss out during tonight's match, Skiverton wants to see fellow midfielders Shaun MacDonald and Owain Tudur Jones step up to the plate to ensure that the Glovers do not miss him:
"Shaun MacDonald would normally get around the pitch and make tackles, along with Owain (Tudur Jones). They didn't do that (on Saturday, against Exeter City) but normally they can do that. So we'll have to see in the next game who we have got fit first, because we've got three or four knocks, and then see who wants to go out there and can put a really good performance in."
Goalkeeper John Sullivan returned to first team training yesterday following a shoulder injury. Tonight's match may come too soon for him to make his return - if so then Stephen Henderson would continue between the sticks.
