Yeovil Town have taken Watford teenager Rob Kiernan on a month's loan. The 19 year old has yet to appear for the Hornets in the Football League - his first team output at Vicarage Road being restricted to an 89th minute subsitute appearance in the FA Cup against Crystal Palace during the 2008-09 season.
During the 2009-10 season, he had a loan spell with Scottish Premier League side Kilmarnock where he made two starts and three substitute appearances. He operates as either a centre-back or as a midfielder and stands at 6'1" tall. Rob has also captained the Republic of Ireland national side at Under-19 level as well as captaining Watford's Under-18s side.
He was born on January 13th 1991 in Watford and signed a two year scholarship with his hometown club in 2007, making 26 appearances for their Under-18s, along with four substitute appearances for their Reserves. His initial position was as a midfielder, but he has subsequently been used in defence for Watford.
Watford have indicated that Kiernan will not be given permission to play in the Carling Cup match against Crystal Palace. The Watford Observer have described it as a 28 day loan, although neither official site are that specific.
The best of luck to Rob in his stay at Huish Park, and hopefully the one month deal will transform into a longer stay at the club.
