Yeovil Town have agreed personal terms with Arsenal academy defender Luke Ayling. The central defender, who spent a loan spell with the Glovers during the latter part of the 2009-10 season, will be signing for Yeovil on July 1st, provided he passes a medical.
Ayling has so far made three substitute appearances and one full appearance for the Glovers, with all four seeing him employed as a defensive midfielder, rather than his more customary position in the heart of defence. Arsenal have also used him as a right-back in their Academy and Reserve Team fixtures.
Luke was a member of Arsenal's FA Youth Cup and Premier Academy League winning side that did the double for the Gunners during the 2008-09 season. He was born in London on August 25th 1991 and is therefore 18 years old. He stands at 6'1" tall.
As yet there's no word on contract length or if the Glovers have paid any fee for Ayling's transfer. There have been rumours that the Gunners had released him, but as yet no confirmation of this.
Update: The Arsenal Young Guns unofficial website, which concentrates on up and coming Gunners players, suggests that Arsenal decided against renewing Ayling's contract, and therefore he will move to Yeovil when his contract with the Premier League side runs out on July 1st. It will also mean that the deal will be a free transfer.
