Yeovil Town manager Terry Skiverton has suggested that the club are stepping up their search for centre-back cover in the wake of central defender Stefan Stam's injury. The Dutchman is expected to be out for the rest of the season, leaving the Glovers with just Terrell Forbes and Steven Caulker as recognised centre-backs, and in such circumstances just one injury or suspension could leave Skiverton with a significant selection headache.
The other consideration is the loan transfer window which closes during March, and realistically the Glovers will need to bring in cover by then or risk going the final 10 games of the season with no cover, and no possible alternative options. Skiverton has decided that he needs to make a move and has had two players in this week to see how they perform in training. But he admits that it could be an ongoing situation:
"We've had a couple of people in today, looking at a few people who can fill in on the centre-half role. It's going to be an ongoing situation and it will be one that we'll have to address before the end of March. So we'll definitely need to get in some cover. We just need someone with a little bit of height, a little bit of presence, and be a back-up, or someone on a free who can come in and push for a place. But it's something that we've got to address straight away."
