Yeovil Town goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has received yet another England Under 21 level call-up. Alex has been named in a 24 man squad that will take on Greece at The Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster as part of a UEFA European Championship qualifier.
The match will be played at 6.00p.m. on Wednesday 3rd March 2010, and will be broadcast live on the ESPN Sports Channel. The scheduling will allow England fans to watch the Under 21s match prior to the Senior side taking on Egypt at Wembley Stadium in a friendly match.
With the Glovers having no midweek match next week, there is no clash with this international fixture, thus allowing McCarthy to stay in Doncaster and watch the match. Previously, once the matchday squad has been selected, McCarthy - who has yet to be capped at Under 21 level - has tended to head back to Yeovil, due to him being England's third choice keeper.
The full squad selected is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Frankie Fielding (Rochdale - loan from Blackburn), Scott Loach (Watford), Alex McCarthy (Yeovil Town - loan from Reading)
Defenders: Ryan Bertrand (Reading - loan from Chelsea), Michael Mancienne (Wolves - loan from Chelsea), Kyle Naughton (Middlesbrough - loan from Tottenham Hotspur), Micah Richards (Manchester City), Chris Smalling (Fulham), James Tomkins (West Ham United), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur).
Midfielders: Tom Cleverley (Watford - loan from Man Utd), Jack Cork (Burnley - loan from Chelsea), Fabien Delph (Aston Villa), Jack Wilshere (Bolton Wanderers - loan from Arsenal), Fabrice Muamba (Bolton Wanderers), Dan Gosling (Everton), Henri Lansbury (Watford - loan from Arsenal), Victor Moses (Wigan Athletic), Lee Cattermole (Sunderland), Jack Rodwell (Everton).
