Yeovil Town's Youth Team gained a 3-0 victory over Millfield School this afternoon in a match played at Kingweston. Three late goals secured their victory with Ciaran Levet, Tyler Sheppard and Lewis Voizey all netting for the Glovers.
Early play saw Millfield compete well playing a 3-1-4-2 formation, causing the Glovers problems. With a team made up of ex-County players plus ex-schoolboys from Southampton, Bristol City and Plymouth Argyle, they got a lot of possession, albeit without troubling Connor Siddley-Adams too much - with the exception of one shot that he had to tip behind his goal.
The Glovers switched formation to a 3-5-2 themselves, and began to get into the game with Ciaran Levet shooting from outside the box, and seeing his attempt skim the crossbar and head over. The second period saw Yeovil begin to dominate the fixture, with their superior fitness taking control of the game, and penning Millfield back into their own half.
With 14 minutes remaining, the floodgates finally opened, when Ciaran Levet fired a left-footed shot from outside the box that headed into the top left hand corner of the net. Ten minutes later, an excelllent Tyler Sheppard free kick doubled the lead, and right on full time, Lewis Voizey completed the scoring.
Head of Youth Mo Hopkins praised Millfield for their standard of opposition and the way that they played the game, pointing out that until fitness told, they had proved difficult to break down. Cory Lewis, Ciaran Levet and an unnamed trialist were singled out for praise, although the team as a whole put on a good performance.
