Yeovil Town striker Andre McCollin has made a good early impression on his debut for Southern League leaders Farnborough. He scored their 89th minute winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Leamington. McCollin had only come on as a 75th minute substitute and so wasted little time in making an impact on the game. McCollin's winner ensures that Farnborough have a nine point lead at the top of the Southern League Premier table, with two games in hand. Another scorer for the Cherrywood Road side was former Glover Kezie Ibe.
It can probably be safely assumed, in the absence of any official announcement, that goalkeeper Richard Martin has completed his loan spell with Grays Athletic. Martin was on the bench for Yeovil Town's home match against Colchester United last Tuesday. However his inclusion on the bench on Saturday, whilst Grays were due to play an away match against Kettering Town pretty much confirmed his time in Essex was over.
Grays have just signed 34 year old Glyn Garner, who was previously on the books of Shrewsbury Town and his signature presumably spelt the end of the Conference National side's need for a loan goalkeeper. As it happens, the match at Kettering was called off due to a frozen pitch, so Martin was better off warming the bench at The Valley.
For the record, Martin completed three matches for the Essex side, with Grays losing all three matches by 4-0, 4-1 and 3-0 scorelines. Grays are currently 23rd in the Conference National table, propped up only by Chester City, who are currently suspended from playing matches due to five breaches of Conference league rules.
