The Month of January 2010 will probably be remembered more for the weather than for the quality of the football. By the time we did finally see a game played on January 19th, we were served up with three defeats and one win across the month.
Individual Man of the Match winners included Shaun MacDonald (Huddersfield Town), Andy Welsh (Tranmere Rovers), Jean-Paul Kalala (Exeter City) and Ryan Mason (Leyton Orient).
On this occasion the Player of the Month for January 2010 does not come out of that quartet. Having managed 2nd (Leyton Orient), 3rd (Exeter City) and 2nd (Huddersfield Town), central defender Stefan Stam had been quietly clocking up the votes throughout the month, and in the end he came out on top in the monthly vote.
Fully top ten, with the percentage of the vote cast, are as follows:
1 Stefan Stam 16.9
2 Shaun MacDonald 15.4
3 Sam Williams 11.9
4 Ryan Mason 10.4
5 Jean-Paul Kamudimba Kalala 9.1
6 Andy Welsh 9.0
7 Nathan Jones 8.2
8 Steven Caulker 5.9
9 Gavin Tomlin 3.7
10 Craig Alcock 3.6
