Yeovil Town have appointed a new manager of their Under-16s Centre of Excellence side. The new man won't be an entirely unfamiliar face, with Tam Burns transferring from managing Yeovil Town Ladies Under-16s, to the same age group on the men's side.
Tam is a UEFA Level 'B' qualified coach, who has been with Yeovil Town Ladies for three years, taking their current Under 16s side up through three age groups. He has also provided general coaching for the Ladies goalkeepers, as well as providing assistance to the Ladies' First Team.
Speaking to the Yeovil Town Ladies official website, Burnes said that he had found it a difficult decision to make:
"I would just like to say what a fantastic three seasons I have had at the club, and leaving was not a decision I took lightly. I had been agonising over the decision with (first team manager) Steve (Phelps) since the beginning of October when the chance of coaching one of the senior Centre Of Excellence teams materialised. This coupled with me coaching the Navy team at Yeovilton as well as the U13ís at the Centre Of Excellence didnít leave enough days in the week really, and something had to give. I am proud of the Under-sixteen girls, and what they have achieved, and firmly believe there will be a future first team star or two amongst them."
He will not be entirely breaking his links with the Ladies side, as he plans to continue his commitment towards organising their Summer Youth Tournament this year:
"My support for organising the clubís End Of Season Tournament remains unwavering as I see this as a sound financial event for the future of the club. This event has raised extra funds for the club and will continue to do so as it grows from infancy to maturity."
Welcome aboard Tam, and good luck in your new position at the club.
