Today marks the final day of the January transfer window, with Yeovil Town unlikely to be doing any major trading during the day. Football League clubs and Premier League clubs have until 5.00p.m. today to conclude their business. Scottish League clubs have until midnight.
With Owain Tudur Jones having arrived from Norwich City just before the weekend just gone, and the Arron Davies registration having hit the buffers, manager Terry Skiverton told BBC Somerset on Saturday that he is not expecting anything to happen of significance today. Terry was asked about the chances of a reverse on Arron's situation or any new players arriving:
"I can't comment on either at the moment. I've brought Owain (Tudur Jones) in, to cater for the JP (Kalala) scenario, and if nothing happens with Arron (Davies) then I don't see anything else happening within the window."
The pre-match radio coverage suggested that Arron's agents were seeking to appeal to the Football League regarding their decision to block Arron's player registration last week. Our assumption would be that the League would give them the same advice that was given to Wycombe Wanderers striker Alex Revell. Whether the club would want to add a seventh loan to their books though is very debatable. However, Skivo's comments suggest that contrary to the club's initial statement, the door is not entirely closed.
Either way, Arron's situation appears to be irrelevant to the transfer window. Free agents are not governed by today's deadline, and if the same path is followed as with Wycombe's Revell, then this would be an emergency loan deal, which would be possible in around eight days time, assuming Arron's agent doesn't get the mess sorted out today.
