The January transfer window so far has been a stop-start beast, with some days seeing a large volume of movement across Football League clubs, and other days seeing almost no movement at all.
Today has seen two former Yeovil Town players swap places at Wycombe Wanderers, with winger Kevin Betsy signing a permanent deal at Adams Park, after Southend United agreed to release him on a free transfer, with Betsy signing until the end of the season. Heading out of the revolving door is midfielder Tommy Doherty. He has been unable to patch up differences with manager Gary Waddock that stem back to Doherty's days at Queens Park Rangers and so asked to be released from his contract.
Someone who clearly did like his old boss is Brighton and Hove Albion striker Craig Davies. He has been reunited with Micky Adams at Port Vale, leaving the Withdean on a month's loan.
Rounding up a whole batch of other transfers that have gone through during January involving former Glovers, Andros Townsend's loan move to Milton Keynes Dons was covered on this site yesterday. Former Everton academy striker Scott Spencer has signed a six month deal with Southend United. Midfielder Glenn Poole has left Grays Athletic and joined AFC Wimbledon. Meanwhile full-back Stephen Reed has found himself stuck in purgatory for a further five months, seeing out the season in Weymouth, on loan from Macclesfield Town.
Going back a week or so, wandering journeyman and occasional midfielder Gary Dempsey has cured his homesickness by leaving St Patrick's Athletic and signing for League Two basement boys Darlington. Midfielder David Noble's move to Exeter City has already had a mention here, whilst former left-back Anthony Tonkin has switched University cities by heading from Cambridge United to join Oxford United. Finally Lee Johnson's move to Derby County right at the start of the month has already been covered.
