Saturday's opponents Carlisle United have boosted their squad with the signing of 26 year old striker Vincent Pericard. He is a 6'1" tall Cameroon player who began his career with Italian side Juventus, before being signed up by Portsmouth.
His nine goals in 18 starts for Pompey during his loan spell wasn't repeated due to spending 18 months out of first team action as a result of injuries, and thereafter he seems to have lost his way a bit at that sort of level of football. Loan spells with Sheffield United and Plymouth Argyle were followed up by a permanent move to Stoke City. But he was loaned out to Southampton and finished last season on loan at Millwall and has since been a free agent.
Pericard has signed with the Cumbrians until January 12th 2010. At present he is likely to lack match fitness, but with Carlisle currently without a league win in six matches, the temptation will be for them to try and freshen up their matchday squad, so don't be too surprised to find him at least on the bench on Saturday.
