Last Saturday's trip to Southampton saw the Glovers suffer through two controversial penalty decisions in a 2-0 defeat, with Rickie Lambert doing the damage from the penalty spot. Overall, the strengths of the team on the day came in the way that they snuffed out the Saints attack in open play and so it's not too surprising to find defensive-minded players acting as the front runners in the Man of the Match voting.
Goalkeeper Richard Martin got the thumbs up on his Football League debut, whilst Terrell Forbes and Jean-Paul Kalala continued to put in consistent performances. However it was centre-back Steven Caulker who got the nod as the best player on the pitch on the day. Full results including outright MOTM votes in brackets are shown below.
1 Steven Caulker 156 (12)
